Best pool tables for home game rooms (2026)
Our five slate pool tables compared by room size, price and who each one suits, plus how to choose the right one for your home.
Updated November 3, 2026 · Grand Game Room specialists
We sell five pool tables, and all of them have a three-piece, 1 in slate bed. That makes the choice simpler than it looks: you are really choosing among three sizes and two frame grades. This page picks the best table for each kind of home game room, with the room it needs and the price, so you can narrow it to one or two before you measure. We list only tables we sell, with the specs from our own catalog.

Best entry slate table: Brunswick Allenton, $4,495
The Allenton is the 7 ft table for rooms that will not take an 8 footer. It has the same type of slate bed as the larger tables, a hardwood frame with veneer rails, leather drop pockets and a wool-blend cloth in four colors. It suits families with kids learning the game, first-time owners and rooms around 17 x 14 ft. The trade-off is the playing surface: shots are shorter and a serious player will outgrow it. It is also the only table in the group that fits that tighter room, so this is the one to measure against first.
Best value 8 ft: Olhausen York, $5,995
The York is an 8 ft slate table in finishes that read as furniture, with a choice of walnut, espresso or natural and four cloth colors. It is the table we point to for a living room or a den where the table is visible from the rest of the house, and it is the lowest price on the 8 ft size. It needs about 18 x 14.5 ft. Pick it when you want the full-size feel and a good-looking cabinet without spending the extra for the Glenwood frame.
Best all-round 8 ft: Brunswick Glenwood, $7,495
The Glenwood shares the York's 44 x 88 in playfield and slate spec, then adds a heavier frame with solid rails and more detailing. Buy it for the cabinet and the Brunswick name, not for a different roll, because the bed is built to the same standard. It is available in espresso, walnut and black. If an 8 ft table is going to be the centerpiece of a finished game room, the Glenwood is the step up from the York.
Best for a dedicated room: Olhausen Augusta, $9,995
The Augusta is a 9 ft table with a 50 x 100 in playfield, the size used for most competitive play. It sits on six legs, weighs about 1,050 lb and needs about 19 x 15 ft. Choose it if you have a room that is meant to hold a pool table and you or your guests play seriously. If you cannot clear 19 x 15 ft, take an 8 ft table instead. A 9 footer in a room that is too small plays worse than an 8 footer in the right room.
Best heirloom table: Brunswick Centennial, $14,495
The Centennial is the top of the Brunswick lineup we stock: a 9 ft table with a hand-finished hardwood cabinet and a weight of about 1,250 lb. It is for buyers who treat the table as a permanent piece of furniture in a room built around it. Lead times run four to eight weeks, and we recommend a floor check on any upper-floor installation.
What comes with every table
All five include a three-piece slate bed, cloth and cushions, leveling feet, a set of balls, cues and chalk. Each has a four-color cloth choice: tournament green, burgundy, navy blue or charcoal. Finishes vary by model, with espresso, walnut, black or natural depending on the table. The warranty is a one-year limited warranty from Brunswick or Olhausen, covering materials and workmanship, with longer terms on the frame. The included cues are a starting kit. Players who care about cues usually upgrade them later, on their own schedule.
The cloth is the wear item, and any pool table installer can replace it when the time comes, so pick the color you want now rather than the one that hides wear. Delivery details, including what happens if a stair or doorway will not work, are on our shipping and returns page.
How to choose
- Start with the room. Measure it, then use the room size calculator or read our pool table room size guide. The room decides between 7, 8 and 9 ft before budget does.
- Compare sizes. Our 7 vs 8 vs 9 foot guide explains play feel and who each size suits.
- Set a total budget. Add $499 for white glove installation, and see our pool table cost guide for upkeep.
- Check the path and the floor. Measure doorways and stairs and confirm the floor can carry 725 to 1,250 lb.
- Pick the finish last. Cloth color and wood tone are options on every table.
Browse the full pool tables category, read the financing page if you want to spread the cost, and see the shipping and returns page for how delivery and returns work.
Bottom line
For most homes, the Olhausen York at $5,995 is the best starting point: a full-size slate table at the lowest 8 ft price. Step up to the Brunswick Glenwood for the heavier frame, down to the Allenton when the room is under 18 ft long, and up to a 9 ft table only when the room is built for it.
